A. Watch
the video and practice getting a sound out of your recorder.
Both videos teach the same
thing – just in a different way.
You do not have to learn
the song.
You can try it if you’d like a challenge…it’s a bit difficult.

Things
to remember…

Look
at the first page of your recorder packet.
Look at the pictures. When
putting the recorder together make sure the air hole in the top mouth piece is
lined up with the 7 holes. The side with
1 hole is the back – for the thumb.

Blowing
softly is VERY important.
If you blow too hard, the sound is very high
and loud. Imagine that you have a
feather in the middle of your hand.
Pretend to blow that feather from the middle of your hand to your
fingertips without blowing the feather off of your hand. Try for a pleasant tone and make sure you match
the guys tone on the video.

It
may seem unusual, but make sure your LEFT
HAND is on top of the
recorder.
This is the same way you will hold a saxophone,
clarinet and flute. All 3 instruments
use the same way to play the notes.
